The Dream Never Dies

The man behind the words “The dream never dies” continues to be a daily tribute to the lyrics written over three decades before.

(Canada)- Richard, known as Dick or “Coop” Cooper is a musician, author and producer. As a founding member of the Canadian southern-rock
band The Cooper Brothers, he toured extensively throughout North America as the group’s lead guitarist and song writer. The band achieved several hits under the Capricorn Records label, including a number of songs which charted on The Billboard Hot 100.

In the early 80’s The Cooper Brothers went their separate ways. Dick Cooper began working as a children's television
writer under the name Richard Cooper and over the next few years scripted several shows for Nickeldeon including You Can’t Do That On Television and Turkey T.V.

Cooper a native of Ottawa worked at a local television studio where he created and developed his first original series entitled High School Confidential. Richard Cooper wrote and produced 21 episodes of the teen variety series, and the show was later syndicated
in the United States and Canada, winning the International Iris Award at NATPEN in 1987.

The next few years were followed up by producing and directing 13 episodes of the television series Denim Blues, a half-hour teen drama which was subsequently syndicated in both Canada and Japan. The show would also mark the acting debut of Golden Globe
Winner Sandra Oh as well as Tyley Ross, of the popular singing ensemble the East Village Opera Company. The Canadian Association of Broadcasters Gold Ribbon Award in 1989 was presented for the series.

In 2006, The Cooper Brothers release “Best Of The Cooper Brothers” CD under the EMI
Pacemaker label and recently has sold the rights to a screenplay to Los Angeles based production company Kingsborough Pictures; a political thriller entitled Cara Al Sol (My Face to the Sun), which takes place in Havana in 1961 in the days leading up to the Bay of Pigs invasion. The film is slated to begin production in Mexico and Cuba in 2008.

And now? Richard Cooper brings his own real-life experiences to JUKEBOX, a comedic rock n' roll saga that offers a rare glimpse into the music business the way it really was, released by Rain Publishing Inc. which has become # 3 on the Ottawa’s best sellers list. The Cooper’s Brother’s Band is playing again, and Richard “Dick” Cooper may very well have another book being picked up by Rain Publishing.

Richard is proving daily that the ‘dream’ never dies!
