Madison stood with her mother outside the department store peering into the window. It was early December and the wonderful sights and sounds of Christmas filled the air. The sky was full of beautiful snowflakes dancing through the sky on that brisk night, before gently falling to the ground.

“There it is! That’s the dolly Mommy!” Madison said excitedly pointing to the beautiful doll in the middle of the window display. She had beautiful blonde hair and big green eyes that matched Madison’s. She was wearing a beautiful red coat and hat, and her hands were tucked into a white muff.

Madison had been dreaming about this day for a long time. Many of her nights were spent awake in bed with thoughts of rocking her dolly to sleep, and then softly laying it into a cradle. Madison and her mother began to slowly move towards the store entrance, when she began to ask questions.

“Mommy, do you remember when I found that shiny quarter while I was skipping on our sidewalk?”

“Yes, I remember.”

“You said that if I saved it I might be able to buy a dolly someday.”

Her mother smiled and answered, “I told you to keep in a safe place.”
