The Dream Never Dies

The man behind the words “The dream never dies” continues to be a daily tribute to the lyrics written over three decades before.

(Canada)- Richard, known as Dick or “Coop” Cooper is a musician, author and producer. As a founding member of the Canadian southern-rock
band The Cooper Brothers, he toured extensively throughout North America as the group’s lead guitarist and song writer. The band achieved several hits under the Capricorn Records label, including a number of songs which charted on The Billboard Hot 100.

In the early 80’s The Cooper Brothers went their separate ways. Dick Cooper began working as a children's television
writer under the name Richard Cooper and over the next few years scripted several shows for Nickeldeon including You Can’t Do That On Television and Turkey T.V.

Cooper a native of Ottawa worked at a local television studio where he created and developed his first original series entitled High School Confidential. Richard Cooper wrote and produced 21 episodes of the teen variety series, and the show was later syndicated
in the United States and Canada, winning the International Iris Award at NATPEN in 1987.

The next few years were followed up by producing and directing 13 episodes of the television series Denim Blues, a half-hour teen drama which was subsequently syndicated in both Canada and Japan. The show would also mark the acting debut of Golden Globe
Winner Sandra Oh as well as Tyley Ross, of the popular singing ensemble the East Village Opera Company. The Canadian Association of Broadcasters Gold Ribbon Award in 1989 was presented for the series.

In 2006, The Cooper Brothers release “Best Of The Cooper Brothers” CD under the EMI
Pacemaker label and recently has sold the rights to a screenplay to Los Angeles based production company Kingsborough Pictures; a political thriller entitled Cara Al Sol (My Face to the Sun), which takes place in Havana in 1961 in the days leading up to the Bay of Pigs invasion. The film is slated to begin production in Mexico and Cuba in 2008.

And now? Richard Cooper brings his own real-life experiences to JUKEBOX, a comedic rock n' roll saga that offers a rare glimpse into the music business the way it really was, released by Rain Publishing Inc. which has become # 3 on the Ottawa’s best sellers list. The Cooper’s Brother’s Band is playing again, and Richard “Dick” Cooper may very well have another book being picked up by Rain Publishing.

Richard is proving daily that the ‘dream’ never dies!

Former Federal Police Officer- Spins Tales of Fiction

California native relies on his life experiences when creating mazes of fantasy and science fiction tales.

(CA)- Author Chris Stevenson certainly has a deep pool of information to pull from when he writes. His career as Federal Police Officer alone is a wealth of experiences, his colorful resume however includes singing at a Casino in LA, content editor for a publication company, automotive mechanic and service manager.

When you add these life experiences together you are sure to get great fiction- which is exactly what Stevenson has done.

After a whirlwind of mediocre successes, including his book, Dinothon, which was nearly optioned for film, he put pen and paper aside. He’s just recently taken up splashing ink again, to continue the writing career he’d always dreamed of. Word Wars and Once Upon a Goddess are his first novels.

Once Upon a Goddess has several authentic locations that spotlight the antics of the characters. Anything from one to three chapters are dedicated to unique environments and not surprisingly distinctive adventures.
This fantasy prose released from Rain Publishing takes you treasure hunting for sunken ships along the Miami Florida Keys to Valdez Alaska where you will find the main character Mason Hart, and the Roman Goddess of Luck, Felicity Fortune panning for gold. Of course true to his roots Hemet, California, is used as a prime focal point throughout the book, including a visit to the Soboba Casino.

The irony about crafting such a story is that the author, who lived in downtown Las Vegas for six years, has never gambled in his life on any machines of luck or games of chance. The only risks he's ever taken were involved in the board game Monopoly. And even then, he fretted over losing his pretend money to the point of sheer aggravation and depression.

Once Upon A Goddess and Word Wars are available at select bookstores by request, or by visiting Amazon or the Rain Books website at http://www.rainbooks.com/

Ask the Author: LP Chase

If there is a question you would like answered? Visit L.P.'s Website at: www.lpchasebooks.com

Q: Is LP Chase a pen name?
A: Yes it is. Because of my very long, Italian name, friends gradually began to call me by my initals. It started to grow on me and eventually the nickname "LP" stuck. Additionally, while I was growing up, my mother was a very strong inspirational force in my life. She always encouraged me to "chase my dreams" and never give up on my goals. She believed if you wanted something badly enough, you could achieve it with hard work, perseverence and patience. When my mother passed away, I decided to use "Chase" as my my pen name, both as a tribute to my mother, and a reminder to always "Chase my dreams." That's how LP Chase came to be.

A young fan, Dominick from Bayshore, NY conducts an interview with LP Chase:

Dominick: What is your favorite part of The Backyard Treasure?

LP CHASE: My favorite part is when Elliot, Jake and Cassie go down to the dungeon through the "freaky secret mini door." I laugh at Jake all the time in situations like that. He can be very funny when he's scared.

Dominick: If you wrote a sequel, what would you name the book?

LP CHASE: I'm working on it right now. The title is "Elliot Stone and the Mystery of the Summer Vacation Sea Monster." I also have another one simmering in my head entitled, "The Mystery of the Campground Catastrophe."

Dominick: What inspired you to write a story about a backyard treasure?

LP CHASE: When I was a little girl, I had that very same silver and blue tin cigar box from my grandfather. My friend Helen and I would fill it with old keys and special items. One day we buried it in my backyard, ten steps from the fence (just like Elliot). But when we went to dig it up, we couldn't find it - and never did. I used that as an inspiration for the treasure box idea. A little tidbit of information - I also used to collect caterpillars in that box. YUCK!

Dominick: How many books have you written?

LP CHASE: I presently have five published books, and three coming out this year, which makes it eight. However, I have many more stories at home that are looking for a publisher.

Dominick: What is your favorite book you wrote?

LP CHASE: I do love the Elliot Stone series, however, I also adore one story called, "A Color for Katie." It's funny, each story has a special place in my heart, so it's hard to pick a favorite one. I could come up with a reason why each would be my favorite. I love them all.

Dominick: How many illustrators have you used and what were their names?

LP CHASE: Let's see. I think three so far. For the first "Elliot" book, the illustrator is Deborah Cuneo (she is a local, Long Island illustrator). "Today is Tuesday" is illustrated by Vicky Froelich. The illustrator for "The Backyard Treasure" is Kara Elsberry (she did the illustrations for the Ultimate Purple Notebook, too). Kara Elsberry is also working on "Silly Spoon" which will be coming out in February.

Dominick: How long did it take you to write Elliot Stone and the Mystery of the Backyard Treasure?

LP CHASE: It took me quite a few months to develop the idea. I played around with a few scenarios until I came up with one I felt passionate about. Then, I'd say about six months of writing, editing, changing, etc. All in all, the process took about one year.

California author presents newest book published in Canada: Once Upon a Goddess

by Chris Stevenson

Once Upon a Goddess

The idea for this urban fantasy came to me in a flash while I was watching late night television. Strangely enough, it wasn’t a movie, but one of those commercials touting all the fun you might have visiting one of the newest Indian gaming casinos. In the audio background of the clip, Frank Sinatra was singing one of his old standards, Luck be a Lady Tonight. Now, wait a minute, I thought. What if luck really was a flesh and blood lady, but was also a very powerful divinity? And just as surely as Jo Rowling saw Harry Potter with the lightning scar on his forehead while taking a cross-country train ride, I swore I saw a character I called Felicity Fortune, hove into view fully formed.
