The Dream Never Dies
The Dream Never Dies
The man behind the words “The dream never dies” continues to be a daily tribute to the lyrics written over three decades before.
(Canada)- Richard, known as Dick or “Coop” Cooper is a musician, author and producer. As a founding member of the Canadian southern-rock band The Cooper Brothers, he toured extensively throughout North America as the group’s lead guitarist and song writer. The band achieved several hits under the Capricorn Records label, including a number of songs which charted on The Billboard Hot 100.
In the early 80’s The Cooper Brothers went their separate ways. Dick Cooper began working as a children's television writer under the name Richard Cooper and over the next few years scripted several shows for Nickeldeon including You Can’t Do That On Television and Turkey T.V.
Cooper a native of Ottawa worked at a local television studio where he created and developed his first original series entitled High School Confidential. Richard Cooper wrote and produced 21 episodes of the teen variety series, and the show was later syndicated in the United States and Canada, winning the International Iris Award at NATPEN in 1987.
The next few years were followed up by producing and directing 13 episodes of the television series Denim Blues, a half-hour teen drama which was subsequently syndicated in both Canada and Japan. The show would also mark the acting debut of Golden Globe Winner Sandra Oh as well as Tyley Ross, of the popular singing ensemble the East Village Opera Company. The Canadian Association of Broadcasters Gold Ribbon Award in 1989 was presented for the series.
In 2006, The Cooper Brothers release “Best Of The Cooper Brothers” CD under the EMIPacemaker label and recently has sold the rights to a screenplay to Los Angeles based production company Kingsborough Pictures; a political thriller entitled Cara Al Sol (My Face to the Sun), which takes place in Havana in 1961 in the days leading up to the Bay of Pigs invasion. The film is slated to begin production in Mexico and Cuba in 2008.
And now? Richard Cooper brings his own real-life experiences to JUKEBOX, a comedic rock n' roll saga that offers a rare glimpse into the music business the way it really was, released by Rain Publishing Inc. which has become # 3 on the Ottawa’s best sellers list. The Cooper’s Brother’s Band is playing again, and Richard “Dick” Cooper may very well have another book being picked up by Rain Publishing.
Richard is proving daily that the ‘dream’ never dies!

Former Federal Police Officer- Spins Tales of Fiction
California native relies on his life experiences when creating mazes of fantasy and science fiction tales.
(CA)- Author Chris Stevenson certainly has a deep pool of information to pull from when he writes. His career as Federal Police Officer alone is a wealth of experiences, his colorful resume however includes singing at a Casino in LA, content editor for a publication company, automotive mechanic and service manager.
When you add these life experiences together you are sure to get great fiction- which is exactly what Stevenson has done.
After a whirlwind of mediocre successes, including his book, Dinothon, which was nearly optioned for film, he put pen and paper aside. He’s just recently taken up splashing ink again, to continue the writing career he’d always dreamed of. Word Wars and Once Upon a Goddess are his first novels.
The irony about crafting such a story is that the author, who lived in downtown Las Vegas for six years, has never gambled in his life on any machines of luck or games of chance. The only risks he's ever taken were involved in the board game Monopoly. And even then, he fretted over losing his pretend money to the point of sheer aggravation and depression.
Once Upon A Goddess and Word Wars are available at select bookstores by request, or by visiting Amazon or the Rain Books website at http://www.rainbooks.com/

Ask the Author: LP Chase
Q: Is LP Chase a pen name?
A: Yes it is. Because of my very long, Italian name, friends gradually began to call me by my initals. It started to grow on me and eventually the nickname "LP" stuck. Additionally, while I was growing up, my mother was a very strong inspirational force in my life. She always encouraged me to "chase my dreams" and never give up on my goals. She believed if you wanted something badly enough, you could achieve it with hard work, perseverence and patience. When my mother passed away, I decided to use "Chase" as my my pen name, both as a tribute to my mother, and a reminder to always "Chase my dreams." That's how LP Chase came to be.
A young fan, Dominick from Bayshore, NY conducts an interview with LP Chase:
Dominick: What is your favorite part of The Backyard Treasure?
LP CHASE: My favorite part is when Elliot, Jake and Cassie go down to the dungeon through the "freaky secret mini door." I laugh at Jake all the time in situations like that. He can be very funny when he's scared.
Dominick: If you wrote a sequel, what would you name the book?
LP CHASE: I'm working on it right now. The title is "Elliot Stone and the Mystery of the Summer Vacation Sea Monster." I also have another one simmering in my head entitled, "The Mystery of the Campground Catastrophe."
Dominick: What inspired you to write a story about a backyard treasure?
LP CHASE: When I was a little girl, I had that very same silver and blue tin cigar box from my grandfather. My friend Helen and I would fill it with old keys and special items. One day we buried it in my backyard, ten steps from the fence (just like Elliot). But when we went to dig it up, we couldn't find it - and never did. I used that as an inspiration for the treasure box idea. A little tidbit of information - I also used to collect caterpillars in that box. YUCK!
Dominick: How many books have you written?
LP CHASE: I presently have five published books, and three coming out this year, which makes it eight. However, I have many more stories at home that are looking for a publisher.
Dominick: What is your favorite book you wrote?
LP CHASE: I do love the Elliot Stone series, however, I also adore one story called, "A Color for Katie." It's funny, each story has a special place in my heart, so it's hard to pick a favorite one. I could come up with a reason why each would be my favorite. I love them all.
Dominick: How many illustrators have you used and what were their names?
LP CHASE: Let's see. I think three so far. For the first "Elliot" book, the illustrator is Deborah Cuneo (she is a local, Long Island illustrator). "Today is Tuesday" is illustrated by Vicky Froelich. The illustrator for "The Backyard Treasure" is Kara Elsberry (she did the illustrations for the Ultimate Purple Notebook, too). Kara Elsberry is also working on "Silly Spoon" which will be coming out in February.
Dominick: How long did it take you to write Elliot Stone and the Mystery of the Backyard Treasure?
LP CHASE: It took me quite a few months to develop the idea. I played around with a few scenarios until I came up with one I felt passionate about. Then, I'd say about six months of writing, editing, changing, etc. All in all, the process took about one year.
Canadian National News: Once Upon A Goddess
California author presents newest book published in Canada: Once Upon a Goddess
by Chris Stevenson
Once Upon a Goddess
The idea for this urban fantasy came to me in a flash while I was watching late night television. Strangely enough, it wasn’t a movie, but one of those commercials touting all the fun you might have visiting one of the newest Indian gaming casinos. In the audio background of the clip, Frank Sinatra was singing one of his old standards, Luck be a Lady Tonight. Now, wait a minute, I thought. What if luck really was a flesh and blood lady, but was also a very powerful divinity? And just as surely as Jo Rowling saw Harry Potter with the lightning scar on his forehead while taking a cross-country train ride, I swore I saw a character I called Felicity Fortune, hove into view fully formed.

Mason Hart has just lost his job, fiancé, and car in less than 48-hours. A short time later he accosts a cop and ends up in jail. He finally lands in a hospital as the result of a jailhouse brawl. He’s helpless to quell this downhill slide into calamity. Since he believes all is lost at this point, suicide seems the only alternative left…
Until the figure of Felicity Fortune, the Roman Goddess of Luck interrupts Mason’s suicidal plans in the nick of time. It seems Felicity Fortune was hampered by the bird flu and few other appointments, so she must apologize for her tardy appearance. She tells Mason that he’s ripe for a cosmic alignment, and that his 15-minutes of fame and wealth are finally at hand. He is allotted six chances via the roll of the golden dice for his deserved share of the “Great Cornucopia.”
But as a result of Felicity’s tardiness, the cosmic alignment is about to unravel. Beshaba, the Maid of Chaos, has ear-marked Mason at the exact same time to heap upon him the bad luck part of the equation. She is the evil incarnate daughter of Felicity, and now covets Mason for her own devious alignment. And everything that Beshaba represents is in stark contrast to her mother. It is a deliberate ploy to spite the good works of the mother, thus laying down a challenge of cosmic power. So Beshaba’s minions chase Mason Hart across the country to ruin and foul every fortune he accumulates.

Convicted Creations “Poetry for the Ghetto Soul” was written while the author was in a correctional rehab program for over a year. These are his intimate feelings and thoughts during this time.
Please note some language and content may not be appropriate for younger or sensitive readers. These are the opinions of the author and not necessarily that of Rain Enterprises as a whole and or Rain Publishing / Rain Books. D.R. Wilson is twenty years old and was hooked on drugs and booze by the time he was thirteen. These poems are written in street slang and are not for everyone, they speak of a world on the “other side” that most of us have never touched and are scared to believe exists.
“Do not be fooled into thinking that you could never cross over to this world, or that the one you love will not be touched—D.R. holds nothing back, his thoughts and fears are laced with the bitter truth, in these pages there is no escape, no way to cover up, or hide from the ugly truth of the street!” ~Tilly Rivers~
Dedication Convicted Creations, Poetry for the Ghetto Soul is dedicated not to the ones lost and on the streets, the truth for them is an every day reality and only they will be able to find the light to guide them from the darkness, this is dedicated to the souls about to cross over, for they no not what they are about to endure-

The Death Wizard Chronicles. Book Four-World on Fire
The insect mouth opened and a long tongue emerged, wriggling hypnotically. The monster reached for Laylah with hands as large as shields, but the sorceress batted them away with the ivory staff. The insect head hissed and then spat venom at Laylah’s face and chest, striking the helm and breastplate and dissolving large portions of the Jivitan iron. To Torg’s relief, the sorceress appeared unharmed, and she punched the fiery head of Obhasa into the swollen flesh of the monster's abdomen.
After a frantic flight from Invictus' evil minions, Torg and Laylah reach the safety of Jivita.
But is anywhere truly safe?
Three great battles have set the world aflame. An army of monsters lays siege to the dark fortress. Flesh-eating zombies terrorize the desert. And evil druids march on the green plains. The fate of Triken hangs in the balance.
"Jim Melvin does a great job of breathing life into Triken and its inhabitants. He accomplishes what every writer hopes for with a book like this: he left me wanting more. Melvin definitely seems to be an up-and-coming star in the genre."

This piece of written work stems from stories I heard from my grand relations, both in Whitefish Falls, and The Place of the Big Drums on Manitoulin. It is meant to make one remember a little of their past. It is meant to bring out a small piece of the heart and how that piece relates to the First Nations People. It is to remember the atrocities that were instilled upon my relations who help the Crown and the Great White Mother's children.
Majo
Colin O'Sullivan
$12.00
Majo is the story of a seventeen-year-old Irish guy, Ronan, who goes to Japan alone on his Christmas holidays to spend time with his brother Mark, an English teacher. While there, Ronan meets the attractive, peculiar Sakura, who takes him to various spooky sightseeing points in snowy Hirosaki, northern Japan.
The horror-movie-loving couple encounters a strange majo (“witch” in Japanese) that keeps appearing to them in the oddest of places (from the grounds of a sacred temple to the inside of a karaoke box!) with some vital message to impart. This short novel is as much a love story as it is a tale of the supernatural, and we follow the new couple trying to overcome their communication problems (Sakura speaks hardly any English) and grow closer together. Why has the apparition specifically chosen to contact them? And why is the black-clad, morose Japanese teenager’s scrapbook filled with mystifying articles and arcane information?
Does she know more than she at first lets on? As the plot unfolds we discover that the witch is actually Sakura’s grandmother, caught in a netherworld of lost love; her American pilot lover crashed during the war and was taken from her; and young Sakura also dabbles in the occult and is on her way to becoming a witch, though she prefers the term healer.
Some catastrophe is about to be flung before them, just as it was in majo’s time, but can they figure out exactly what it all means before it all goes horribly wrong?

The Midwest Book Review- FIVE STARS-What Legends Are Made Of
Carol Butler Reviewer
December 2007
What Legends are Made Of is the latest anthology by my favourite author Heather Beck. This is a collection for an older audience as the content and language challenges the reader. Consisting of four paranormal stories, "Sir Tristan's Estate" begins this amazing anthology. "Sir Tristian's Estate" is about a photographer, Krista, who is on a mission to capture the sad story behind the tourist-driven estate. When she arrives the estate is closed. The only person there is the mysterious man named Tom Dove. The passionate and strange relationship between Krista and Tom immediately drew me into the story. Everything is not as it appears in "Sir Tristian's Estate." A heart-racing ride is followed by another. "Sir Tristian's Estate" is definitely my favourite story of this collection.
The second story, "Blue Water" is beautifully described. The tale involves young love, ancient love, deadly waters and mythical creatures. The complexity of the female lead really struck me as excellent character development. The resolution is very satisfying.
The third story, "Freaky Frank" is so creative. It's a summer romance filled with discoveries, fear and big decisions. Every woman will fall in love with Frank and wish they were Brittany.
The last story brought about feelings of sadness because I didn't want this cool anthology to be over. "One Stop Horror Shop" has a wicked title and excellent writing throughout. A newly married couple own a costume and trick store which sells products that are a bit too real. The whole tale is filled with unexpected excitement, scares and even laughs.
What Legends Are Made Of is another great anthology by Heather Beck. She has an unbelievable imagination that is creatively astonishing. Her writing ability is advanced for her young age. What Legends Are Made of gets five stars and is highly recommended to paranormal readers.
